Wereldwijd Uitgestorven: Reptielen
Volgens de IUCN Rode Lijst van Bedreigde Soorten (versie 2011.1) zijn 21 reptielensoorten en 1 reptielenondersoort uitgestorven sinds het jaar 1500. De onderstaande lijst bevat echter 28 recent uitgestorven reptielensoorten en 5 reptielenondersoorten.

Schildpadden
De onderstaande tabel laat de recent uitgestorven soorten en ondersoorten schildpadden zien. Tenminste één van de nog overgebleven soorten Galapagos-reuzenschildpadden zal uitsterven deze eeuw, omdat nog maar één individu overleefd in gevangenschap. De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is Geochelone abingdoni. Deze Abingdon-eiland Reuzenschildpad of Pinta-eiland Reuzenschildpad is de laatste van zijn soort en wordt 'Lonesome George' genoemd. Lonesome George leeft nu in het Charles Darwin Research Station op Santa Cruz. Reptielen hebben verdwijnen door het vernietigen van het leefgebied waarin ze leven, door de jacht en door de introductie van niet-inheemse katten, honden en mangoesten op eilanden door mensen.
